Sometimes, Inventor does not automatically update a file especially when the trigger (in your case, a modification to an external parameter) is external to the file. Rather, Inventor would indicate on the Quick Access Toolbar that "Local or Global Update" are available. By not forcing the file to refresh and update, you can continue working with the current state until you really need the update to reflect on the file. Then, you click Update on the Quick Access Toolbar.

*Note: The Quick Access Toolbar is the topmost toolbar on top of the User Interface, usually above the Panels.

Let me know if this answered your question. Now I will call your first project...Hello Chandra,

Now I will call your first project P1 and second one P2. Each Inventor project has a Workspace. A workspace is basically the folder/subfolders in which all files (parts, assys, etc) are stored for the current project. The problem you have is that you are trying to work on a file that is outside the Workspace defined for the current project, hence the warning messages.

Let's call your first project P1 and the second P2. Now you can either move all the files inside the workspace of P2 into P1 and set P1 as the current project. Or move all the files in workspace of P1 into P2 and set P2 as the current project. If you create a third project, then simply move all the files in the workspace of P1 & P2 into the workspace of P3 (the new Project) and set P3 as current. Make sure you move the subfolders (if any).

You can move using the normal Windows Explorer. Explore your computer and navigate to where the workspaces are. It's just the same way as moving normal files. Let me know if this helped.

The other method is to open the options for the current project, go to Workspace and add other folders you want to link to the existing workspace folder. (To be confirmed.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10953220001597036104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3318929651654284946.post-42697410300816512832013-11-11T12:15:41.561+01:002013-11-11T12:15:41.561+01:00I have a crated a project and created many parts u...I have a crated a project and created many parts under that. But when I modify the parameter in the part it doesn't update autmatically in the assembly (even though it is marked as update automatically in the parameters of the assembly.) I have to manually, right click on the linked parameter > edit folder > remove it and it again for it to update. Any idea what I might be doing wrong.?
Thanks! With Fusion, you can save the model as a "Fusion Edited DWG" which Inventor can easily recognise.Inventor recognises features/parameters created in Inventor Fusion, and vice versa.

You cannot establish parameters for the existing features that were imported with the AutoCAD model, but an changes to the model done on Inventor, thereafter, will be parametric. So you have to first, export the file to AutoCAD DWG, then from DWG to DXF. Follow these steps:
1. In Inventor, go to Menu Browser (the big "I" at the upper-left corner of Inventor), then click Export > Export to DWG.
2. Save the file to DWG format. Note the folder where the DWG file was saved.
3. Go to AutoCAD and open the saved DWG.
3. In AutoCAD, go to Menu Browser > Save As > Other Formats.
5. On the Save Drawing As dialog, change "Files of type" to AutoCAD 20**/LT20**(*.dxf).
6. Save the file. It is now exported to DXF.

I HOPE THESE HELPED.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10953220001597036104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3318929651654284946.post-20868495354382591632013-06-17T01:41:26.649+01:002013-06-17T01:41:26.649+01:00ok

The "resolve link" problem you are experiencing is caused by the fact that the Excel file is not in the same folder as your project folder. Copy or cut the Excel file into the current Project folder, i.e., the folder where you have your Inventor part/assembly files for your current project. Once the Excel file is in the same folder as your part/assembly files, the "resolving problem" will stop. I hope this helps. If you still have problems don't hesitate to post a comment.
